The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Trade, this role will be responsible for driving the growth of our retail & wholesale sales across our network.  You will be responsible for building strategic relationships with suppliers both in the domestic and overseas markets to deliver products that meet the demands and global trends of our customers while maximising return on investment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Be an ambassador of Peregrine Corporation as the Senior Buyer through your passion to build the brand, its reputation and financial performance
  • Create strategic and innovative plans in collaboration with the Head of Trade to introduce, grow, test and exit ranges that optimise sales and GP within our Retail, Wholesale and online business
  • Work with the Inventory Planning Manager to ensure all financial decisions on existing and new ranges exceed KPI’s
  • Conducting global market analysis to ensure our merchandise, range & price are ahead of current global market trends and position us as a Merchandise Leader
  • Work closely with the marketing team to create a promotional program for all permanent and seasonal merchandise that is planned and agile to exceed or meet budget
  • Manage supplier relationships in all critical path elements and review for continual improvement
  • Conduct, analyse and execute corrective actions to optimize sales, GP, turnover and cost of doing business
  • Lead and develop the Assistant Buyer

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A proven track record of success in a Senior buying role sourcing from domestic and overseas markets
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate with and influence cross-functional and external stakeholders, to achieve the best outcome
  • Exceptional people skills and strategic relationship building skills with a positive outlook
  • Ability to use customer insights and data to make strategic and commercial business decisions
  • A strong focus and desire to exceed KPI’s and further grow our business model
  • The willingness and ability to travel as required for the role 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Suite or Programs
